Pleasing Purple Lily & Rose
Purple gives flowers a certain nobility, and here it runs through both the lilies and the roses. The florist ties the two together by hand, mixing the open lily blooms with the fuller roses so the bouquet has depth and movement. In Portugal it is a handsome way to offer congratulations, for an exam passed, a book published or a new chapter begun. The bouquet is prepared and delivered in person by a florist in Oeiras, Viana do Castelo or elsewhere. Those ordering from abroad can rest easy about language: the florist deals with the delivery in Portuguese, and you write the card in whichever language you like.
